Our Merlot Blanc de Noir 2023 - a rare pearl!

Why, you say? Merlot (a red grape variety) is really not a grape variety you would expect to find at the Moselle. Because the Moselle is known primarily for its white wines. Red wines are in the minority (about 10% of the grape varieties) and are mainly divided between Pinot Noir and Saint Laurent. So here we have a new representative of this family, Merlot. For this third single-varietal Merlot, we pressed the grapes and then separated the must and the skin from the beginning, so that the grape skins would not colour the must. The Merlot matured for about 8 months in 2 oak barrel (of 225 l each).
In its beautiful yellowish colour, this Merlot Blanc de Noir shows notes of smoky aromas, pear and orange. The fruity side, rounded off by the oak, will please many and makes this Merlot Blanc de Noirs a companion for the autumn season.

Wine and food pairings: Poultry, "Blanquette de veau", Pasta à la carbonara (cooked or as gratin), various starters with strong flavours.
